Hospitals Promoting a
Culture of Health through Food

Good Food, Healthy Hospitals brings together healthcare institutions to create a culture of wellness through food. Pennsylvania hospitals purchase, serve and sell food to thousands of patients, staff, and visitors. This multi-faceted initiative is administered by The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) in partnership with the PA Department of Health and Philadelphia Department of Public Health and is aimed at improving the health of communities through better nutrition.

To date, 63 hospitals representing 11 health systems in 27 counties across the Commonwealth are implementing food service guidelines to support healthier and more sustainable food and beverage options to their community. Expansion is continuing with funding by the Pennsylvania Department of Health through the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
