Hospitals Promoting a
Culture of Health through Food

Good Food, Healthy Hospitals brings together healthcare institutions to make the healthy choice the easy choice and create a culture of wellness through food. Pennsylvania hospitals purchase, serve and sell food to thousands of patients, staff and visitors. As such, they have great capacity to positively impact their communities.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has joined with Get Healthy  Philly to build this initiative and transform hospital food environments. To date we have engaged 38 hospitals representing 10 health systems who have pledged to offer healthier and more sustainable food and beverage options to their community. Continued expansion is planned through 2023 with funding by the Pennsylvania Department of Health through the State Physical Activity and Nutrition (SPAN) grant and Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
